For far too long, plastic pollution has wreaked havoc on our communities and environment, fueled by the interests of fossil fuel companies. During this historic march from Parliament Hill to the Shaw Center we will demand real action at the fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) on the Global Plastics Treaty.  It’s time for governments to prioritize the health of our planet and communities over profit.

Fossil fuel companies continue to view plastics as Plan B for their dying industry.  The entire plastic life cycle comes at the expense of human life and our fundamental rights to health and the environment, and our climate – especially for Black, Brown, Indigenous, frontline, and under-resourced communities.  The Global Plastics Treaty has the potential to stop the plastic pollution crisis at the source – but only if governments truly step up and uphold their responsibility to the people, environment, wildlife, and the climate.  Ambition needs to be more than just words.  The fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) on the Global Plastics Treaty happening in Ottawa from April 23rd to 29th is a pivotal moment where we can make or break the Global Plastics Treaty.  Pressure on the negotiation process is high as we move into the last year of the process and are still far from a Treaty that would truly address the plastics crisis, including the harms that plastic causes to communities across its entire life cycle.  Together, we can make a difference. Let’s show the world that our voices matter. Rally will begin on Parliament Hill at 11am followed by a March to the Shaw Centre starting around noon.
